Seol Notes is an English-language blog written from Korea.
I write about these topics:
- The future. Long-form series that follow today’s technology to its logical end. The first one, Elon Musk: The Evolution Contract and Homo Conspirans, asks a single question: what happens to humanity if every one of Elon Musk’s dreams comes true?
- Korea news. What is happening in Korea, explained for readers outside it.
- Korea travel. Places in Korea worth the trip, and how to get the most out of them.
- Korean culture. Food, language, everyday customs, film and television.
- K-pop. The music, the industry and the fandom.
- Korean stars. Actors and idols who define Korean style today, with their work and careers, in two categories: Handsome Korean Men and Beautiful Korean Women.
- Korean memes. The jokes, phrases and images every Korean knows, and the stories behind them.
- App development. Notes from building my own apps: what worked, what broke and what I learned.
Every factual claim on this site comes with a dated source. When I make a prediction, I say so plainly and put my name to it. When I write about what someone else might be thinking, I write it as a possibility, not a fact.
